MATCh: The Educational Potential

To support children’s intellectual development, the designed applications are both entertaining and educationally rich. They channel the powerful motivation created by multimedia towards learning and intellectual growth.

Applications intend to provide a model for children to play and be inspired by in order to motivate self created applications. Children need to be exposed to these models before they begin to author and as they are authoring. Starting out their authoring, children will begin to acknowledge the beauty of the screen design, the complexity of the information structure, or the consistency of the interface. At first one can be impressed by the whole, then as one begins to understand what happens at backstage, one can become a different viewer of the activities on stage.
